Disabled Travel Information for Port Douglas

Port Douglas has built up its reputation as a first class tourist destination since the 1950’s. So it has had plenty of time to ‘get it right’ and to address the needs of its various types of visitors.

You can choose from a variety of top class resorts, beach houses, villas, apartments and more budget resorts.

Tour operators also consider guests with disabilities and have ramp to access their vessels. One operator uses a chair lift to lower disabled guests into the Coral Sea so they can access the Great Barrier Reef and snorkel.  Some operators also offer discounts for Companion Card holders.

Many of the bars and restaurants are at street level and have access to disabled toilets.

There is accommodation that will allow you direct access to the main Macrossan Street if you wish to be accessible to the centre of the ‘action’.

Port Douglas has a variety of disabled parking spaces if you wish to drive and have closer access.

If you wish one of our tour specialists to compile a package for you to include accommodation and tours specific to your capabilities then they can help to ensure that your holiday is problem free.
