Tourists began to discover the quiet paradise of Port Douglas in the 1970s when it was still very much a small country town. Then Jim and Jo Wallace started Quicksilver tours to the Outer Great Barrier Reef in 1982 for travelers and adventure seekers, to dive on the greatest reef and coral systems in the world.
