Shopping in Port Douglas

Day one: Meridien Marina

Pencil in the entire morning followed by lunch at one of the mouth watering restaurants to explore this shopping mecca. Meridien Marina offers everything for the ladies from casual resort wear to designer evening gowns, lingerie to designer shoes, and unique accessories including South Sea pearls and a range of exquisite Australian opals.

The men are not forgotten having a range of Polo Ralph Lauren and Versace at their fingertips, together with traditional Australian casual wear, surf wear and a collection of designer watches to choose from.

Take home a new addition to your art collection from the Marina Gallery or maybe indulge in a hand made Persian carpet – all the while not forgetting those kooky souvenirs for your friends at home!

Day two: Macrossan Street Shopping

Clear your afternoon to explore the main hub of Port Douglas before a sunset drink on the verandah of the pub followed by a hearty dinner at one of the many Macrossan street restaurants. If you have forgotten your bathing suit, pop into Tshinta or one of the many swimwear outlets and spoil yourself.

Macrossan street shopping offers a great array of specialist jewellery stores including the iconic Bisoux Handmade Jewellery designer, casual and tropical ladies and men’s wear, kitchen souvenir stores, a fantastic range of surf wear and natural threads clothing, and magnificent Aboriginal art galleries, the unique Imagine gallery and the world famous Peter Lik Gallery

For those opting for a barbecue in the park at the end of the day, head up to the supermarket and bottle shop in Port Village for that tasty steak and bottle of champagne to toast the magnificent sunset.

Day three: Sunday Markets and Wharf Street

A true Port Douglas experience is to be had at the Sunday Markets. Boasting over 100 individual stalls offering handmade clothing and jewellery, spectacular creations in the art of woodwork and metal work, homemade jams, sauces and chutneys, fresh fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts and the local coconut cocktail, you will become immersed in the range and quality available.

Grab a quick coffee before again adding to your art collection from local artists Cara Stevens and Jai Vasicek and photographer Perrin Clarke.
