Deja Vu as Port Douglas night club closes again

The only 5am licensed nightclub has closed again after a Melbourne couple came up to run the business. A breakdown between the current owners Sam Solomon and his wife Chantelle Kerr is said to be the major reason behind the closure.

Nippers Surf carnivale first of season

 

Nippers, adults and first time competitors traveled down to Mission Beach for the first surf carnivale of the season last weekend. Some big performance from the nippers and adults was great to see at the start of the season.  The next Surf carnivale will be held in Port Douglas at Four Mile Beach on the 2 and 3 of August . .


Queensland Bulls Cricket team is coming to Cairns

The Queensland Bulls are coming to Cairns on the 29 July for a three day game against New Zealand at Cazalys. This will be followed by two 20-Twenty matchs on the 1 & 3 August at Cazalys. Australian One Day players Shane Watson and James Hopes will be playing for the Bulls. Tickets are at the gate . .


Umpiring Cricket in North Queensland

The Cricket Umpires Training and Development Officers for FNQ will be administering umpiring courses over the next few months. Basic umpiring (junior cricket) and Level 1 umpiring for both junior and senior cricket sessions. New members would be greatly appreciated. The winner is Queen Jolene O'Sullivan. Her runner up is Debbi Westbrook with the title of Show Princess. Ms Sullivan raised over $3500 for the Leukaemia Foundation. The Show ended on Monday with the traditional fireworks display..

"The HELP HAMISH Benefit was a massive success" says Organiser Uli Braun.
"152 people attended the Auction Benefit" for local Base Jumper Hamish McCorkindale, contributing over $10,000 to the injured Sportsman. The Port Douglas Sporting Complex was alive with 70's revival costumes. Featuring everything from Sid Vicious to a Four Ex Gold can.

The organisers who arranged the Port Douglas Benefit really know how to turn it on for those who are in need. This same group of organisers assisting the Toni Farrell Benefit not long ago.
