Yacht Club host 2011 Clipper Cup Regatta launch

: Exemplar Clipper Cup to be launched at PD Yacht Club

Port Douglas Yacht Club is pleased to announce that the official launch of this year’s Exemplar Clipper Cup Regatta is to be held at the Yacht Club at 6:00pm on Tuesday March 29th.

Special guests, regional media, sponsors, race officials, competitors and crew will gather for an informal presentation to launch the countdown to this year’s event. With just 11 weeks to go interest in the regions premier yacht race is beginning to build as preparations for Port Douglas Carnivale gather momentum.

Rear Commodore Mick Gwilliams said: “The Clipper Cup has a long history linking the Yacht Club with Port Douglas Carnivale and once again we will be extending the celebrations of Carnivale on to the Coral Sea for the best fun in the tropical sun as we race the winds of paradise.”

The prize pool for this year’s event is $8,000 and the club expects to make further special announcements at the launch.
