X Factor judge hits town

: Popular UK X Factor judge, and Port Douglas regular, Dannii Minogue relaxes with friends at the Marina.

Dannii Minogue has returned to Port Douglas, but this time it's not to take a relaxing break, but to work in her role of judge in the popular UK version of the X Factor.

"Every year the competition gets tougher for the contestants as they have big shoes to fill from the previous year." Ms Minogue said.

"There is no formula for being a pop star, you just have to have that special ingredient... The X Factor, that sets you apart from everyone else.

"I want to see longevity potential, a sparkle in the eye, outstanding vocal ability and effortless stage presence – nothing much!"

An X Factor film crew were capturing all the action from the Sugar Wharf yesterday as Ms Minogue's boyfriend, rugby league player Kris Smith, took to the waters with Port Douglas Jet Ski Hire.

It is great to see someone like Danni Minogue visiting Port Douglas, the more stars the more recognition for Port Douglas.

Oh dear Maree, I'm sorry you don't think that having an Australian superstar in Port Douglas is news worthy. Here at Newsport we would beg to differ, we think it's these kind of visits by the stars especially with their TV crews that makes Port Douglas so special. And in this case the star in question is a real Aussie icon and the TV show she was filming for is being broadcast in the UK, now that is well worth our attention.
