Water leak affects Marina businesses

Workmen at the Marina
Water was cut to the Marina for almost seven hours yesterday.

By Kerry Larsen

The Meridian Marina was without water for nearly seven hours on Monday after a leak was discovered in the centre’s carpark.

Water was found bubbling and crumbling the surface of the asphalt in at least four locations within a 30m section of the marina carpark, part of which was cordoned off to traffic.

Shops and restaurants in the marina were without water to kitchens and bathrooms from about 8am, as crews from local plumbing company, Zammataro Plumbing, used digging equipment to find the source of the mains leak.

Water was restored at around 2.30pm.

Wow, we saw the water leak and the area cordoned off on Sunday at 2:15pm. This means the water was wasted a lot longer than 7 hours.
