Quicksilver Connections has launched a scholarship program for employees to assist their children engaged in full time study for university bachelor degrees.

Shin Watari, Chairman and Owner of Quicksilver Connections said his company had a responsibility to its workers as one of the region's largest employers.

“Recently after talking to one of our managers about the cost involved in sending his child to University I realised just what a commitment it was for a family and wanted to do something to help,” he said.

Three young adults are about to enter university this year and each student will initially be presented with $1,000. If they maintain a credit average then they will receive an additional $1,000 each semester with bonuses should they receive higher grades for individual subjects.

Tony Baker, Managing Director, Quicksilver Group praised Mr Watari for providing this opportunity.

“Today, education can open up many opportunities and the three young adults who have been offered a scholarship will be studying diverse degrees from Music to Photography and Education.

"A further three students who have already commenced studies will also receive cash bonuses if they maintain a credit average in degrees covering Creative and Professional Writing, Anthropology and Archeology, and Paramedical Science and Nursing.

"This will be an ongoing commitment and we look forward to welcoming more students in the coming years,” Mr Baker said.
