It has been confirmed that Treetops will be renamed Ramada Resort Port Douglas making it the first Ramada resort to open in the region.

The purchase of the property by Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific includes the acquisition of 194 hotel rooms as well as management rights for the property.

The hotel rooms will be reconfigured over the next 12 months resulting in the transfer of 86 apartments and hotel rooms in to the WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham for use by its 44,000 vacation owners.

“We are delighted to establish our presence in this area under the strength and reputation of the international Ramada brand,” said Barry Robinson, CEO and managing director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific and also managing director for Wyndham Hotel Group in the South Pacific.

“We are committed to the expansion of our portfolio in leading tourism destinations such as Port Douglas.

“Ramada Resort Port Douglas is a stunning property which will not only delight visitors to the region but will appeal to our WorldMark South Pacific Club owners. Port Douglas is a desirable destination to visit as indicated by our owners; therefore we anticipate a valuable contribution to the local tourism industry through our acquisition of this property.”

I,m lucky enough to own a room at the now Ramada Resort Port Douglas
(it will always be TreeTops to me) and have noticed even from day 2.. there have been positive changes..
The staff have new, very smart, tailored shirts/uniforms, gold personal name badges, the look is so much more professional in my opinion...
It can only get better...

It was certainly called the Radisson Treetops a few years ago (from memory about 2002 before it changed hands to become a Mantra property).

Wasn't it called the Ramada once before? Anyway, I hope it improves.
