Agents or direct. What's your preference when planning your holiday?

Have your say !

Ken Southall , 28-10-10 10:14:
Hi i think it depends. I always use an agent for my international travel or travel that requires specialised knowledge. I never use an agent for my travels that are safe or well beaten.
I guess its just about confidence, someone to blame if it all goes pear shaped. I would suggest that it specialised travel becomes mainstream then agents wont be needed.

Travel Agents fight for future

To book with a travel agent, or book direct? That is the question that millions of travellers ask themselves when planning a holiday.

It seems that a growing number of people are taking to the internet to cut out the middle man, particularly when it comes to a domestic trip.

But the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) is hoping to direct people back to retail outlets as part of its renewed campaign ‘Without a travel agent you’re on your own.’

The marketing material to support the campaign will aim to highlight the benefits of booking through a travel agent. While funding for the campaign is yet to be finalised, the AFTA would be eager to launch sooner rather than later with the latest figures showing outbound travel will see enormous growth over the coming years.

We'd love to hear from you about how you see the future of 'traditional' travel agents and whether booking direct with the service provider is the way to go.
