The Dredger is here and in position

The long awaited dredger arrived in Port Douglas today and was immediately assembled on the water just by the Yacht Club at the opposite end to the Meridien Marina. 

The platform was floated off into the Dickson Inlet and pushed around to the Marano Quay by a tug boat. 

Once its in position it is believed that dredging will start early in the New year to relieve the problems at the sea entrance of the inlet as soon as possible.

We have not been told officially how long the whole operation will take but when the dredging was done last time it was it took about 6 weeks.

Editors comments: Call me a cynic but taking into consideration how long it took to get the whole operation to this stage in the first place, let's reckon that everything will be completed by end of March just in time for the next season to open.  That will give them nearly 4 months. Any other bets !
