TPDD turns to Glass

Adam Glass

A new face will be joining the board of Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree at tonight's AGM.

Adam Glass, Area General Manager for the Mantragroup, is a relative newcomer to Port Douglas having moved his family here just three months ago, but he is keen to see TPDD members get more involved in their organisation.

"More support is needed, that is why I nominated," he said, adding that part of his motivation to join the board was the strong presence of Mantragroup's six properties in Port Douglas.

Mr Glass, a veteran of 24 years in the hospitality industry, has worked around the world for international hotel chains before settling in Australia.

"The past four and a half years back in Australia was spent working for Intercontinental Hotels Group and the Mantragroup in the Northern Territory and Queensland. I was personally awarded the AHA NT hotelier of the year award in 2009," he said.

He encouraged members to get along to tonight's AGM and participate in proceedings.

TPDD's AGM is being held in the conference room at Ramada Resort Port Douglas 5.30pm.  Registration to vote will open at 5pm.

The person elected was Natalie Johnson from Flames of the Forest and the PD Chamber plus other organizations focusing on tourism in PD. Natalie's passion for tourism and knowledge and committment to PD is well known. Congratulations, Natalie.

Just a quick update to this article. Adam was a nominee for the TPDD board but was not elected at last night's AGM.
