Rapid ride for nonagenarian

Adventurous by nature. 90 year old Matsue Iwasaki takes to the rapids of Barron River.

A 90 year old Japanese woman proved that age is no barrier for adventure as she braved the rapids on the Barron River with RnR White Water Rafting on Sunday.

Ms Matsue Iwasaki has been rafting twice before, but this time brought her 85 year old friend Mitsue Shimada along to join her for some action on the river.

Ms Iwasaki came out soaked but smiiing saying. “It was very fun and exciting."

RnR Operations Manager Chris Yabsley said the elderly adventurers took the rapids with great confidence.

“I have to say that they were quite fit for their age. We’ve had 60 year olds raft with us before who were less able,” he said.
