Radio Port Douglas 10th Birthday celebrations

Michael and Helen Gabour, owners and operators of Radio Port Douglas proudly hosted a gathering on Friday 11th Dec at the studio in the Marina to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the creation of Radio Port Douglas.

There was some discussion about who was the longest serving DJ at the party and it was generally agreed that Dave '00' Evans, who hosted the Sports Show from the beginning was the winner closely followed by Dale 'Streetdog' Priem who joined just a few months behind him in 1999.

Michael said a few words of thanks to everyone involved and how important everyone was to the station from the backroom boys to the main presenters through to the evening and weekend volunteer DJs.  Each one made their own contribution to what both he and Helen considered to be an integral and vital part of the community....And who is going to argue with that?  

There was lots of reminiscing, loads of stories swopped and even if there was a little exaggeration, it only added to the fun of being part of the legend and as the drink flowed the 'lurve' grew stronger, lots of hugs and kisses of camaraderie and a great sense of achievement.  Thank goodness all the participating Movember DJs had had their facial stubble removed last week or there would have been some sore faces in the morning especially amongst the Saturday morning sports team, they've obviously been working together far too long !

Editors Comments: A great afternoon and evening was had by all, here's to the next ten years, may the force be with them 'cos there's obviously no broadcasting standards !....Only kidding, love your work, Supersal and I are proud to be members of the team...rock on !
