Port Douglian wins Broncos Christmas Card Comp
Christmas has well and truly arrived at Dairy Farmers Stadium, with over 1,500 fantastic entries received for the 2009 Cowboys Christmas Card Competition from 54 schools across the north.
The judging panel, made up of Cowboy Matthew Bowen, Executive Director Peter Parr and Stockland Townsville Centre Manager Patrina Bowtell, faced a difficult decision in choosing just one first prize winner, but finally agreed on the design submitted by Keeley Adams, aged 11, from Port Douglas State School.
Keeley’s design has a colourful and tropical Cowboys theme that also reflects the theme of ‘My Kind of Christmas’, and will feature on the front of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ 2009 Christmas card to be sent across Australia.
Our winning artist will receive a 2010 team jersey with her name and favourite player number screen-printed on the back, while Port Douglas State School will receive a Stockland gift card to the value of $400 to spend on school equipment, thanks to Stockland Townsville, and a framed Cowboys jersey.
With so many impressive entries received in 2008, the Cowboys introduced prizes for age groups this year and here again Port Douglas claimed first prize with Jack Hudson from Port Douglas State School winning the 11-13 year category. And Daisy Hawkes and Tory Botha both again from Port Douglas State School got highly recommended for their efforts.
Editors Comments: What a fantastic effortfrom our budding artists at Port Douglas State Scholl and well done to the teachers for their organisation to give the kids a crack at this prestigious competition. Just another splendid example of the wealth of talent Port Douglas, the jewel of the Pacific Rim, has to present to the world ! |
