Port Douglas and Mossman water plan launched

water

Cairns Regional Council (CRC) have invited CRC Councillors, Port Douglas and Mossman residents and stakeholders to join them to celebrate the region’s water through the launch of a  multi-million dollar water management plan.

This gathering is taking place at The Sugar Wharf in Port Douglas on Tuesday, July 26, at 12.30pm.

Details of the management plan will be provided, including a breakdown of expenditure of Federal Government funding.

This project is supported by the Australian Government’s Water for the Future initiative through the National Water Security Plan for Cities and Towns program and Cairns Regional Council.

Maybe "they" will be able to entice the real staff back who know how to run the plant properly.

The ratepayers of this Shire voted for & paid for a "fully functional purification plant" which up to the Amalgamation was servicing this Shire. Within weeks of the the takeover the Plant operaters had been made reduntant the operation of the the plant was discontinued & suddenly we have a water problem???Now once again we will be hit with exceessive costs from a council which cares little about "Douglas Shire" is totally Dysfunctional & totally unaccountable. I want my money back??

I just checked the date...no it's not April 1st! What a joke, all the same. CRC can't justify spending money on chemical free trials (something the former Douglas Shire residents would celebrate) and then expects us to swallow more of its money wasting PR stunts. I’m also intrigued as to what mysterious entity the CRC has manifested into. “Cairns Regional Council (CRC) have invited CRC councillors?”…Did they have to invite themselves? Thank you Julia Leu for voting against this nonsense and for publicly denouncing it on behalf of your electorate.
Dave Morrison, 22-07-11 19:21:
Yes, we were 'celebrating' the chemical free water we used to have through the state of the art $12M system before Cairns decided it was politically easier just to waste more money bringing us into line with what they do. Thanks for nothing CRC.
Scott Clarksmith, 22-07-11 16:59:
Are "they" going to announce that we can have our old water purification plant back?
