Four new ambulance officers have taken up their positions at Mossman Ambulance Station and brought a new ambulance vehicle worth $180,000 along with them.

The new paramedics take the staffing level at Mossman Station to ten.

Member for Cook Jason O’Brien said the new ambulance officers and Mercedes Sprinter 319 vehicle would be welcome additions to ambulance services in the community.

“Local ambulance officers do a great job in ensuring community safety, and it’s great their numbers have been further boosted."

The new officers will help staff an afternoon shift at the station which will improve service coverage and assist with coordinating on-call arrangements.

“We’re fortunate to have another four highly-trained, professional officers on the ground. . . in our local community,” Mr O'Brien said.

He added that the provision of a new vehicle would also help local ambulance officers continue providing a high level of community care.

“The Sprinter is an additional vehicle and increases the fleet at Mossman Station from three to four,” he said.

“It’s fitted with all the technology and equipment our ambulance officers need to be able to attend to the emergency medical needs of the community.

“This new vehicle will ensure ambulance services are adequately equipped to keep the community safe and respond to emergency incidents.”

Mossman Paramedic Anthony Wemm said the new resources were made available to help meet the community's needs.

"We've got three new trained staff. and Liam (Langford, pictured) is one of them. They're trained at the universities, Liam is from Queensland University of Technology."

"With the great coverage with having a day and afternoon shift we needed new paramedics to respond to the public's needs.
