After turning in three triumphant performances at the 2011 Byron Bay Blues Festival, maverick songman, Neil Murray is set to perform in Port Douglas at the Clink Theatre on 26 May.

Neil Murray was a founding member of the Warumpi Band which over three albums and twenty years of performing put contemporary indigenous music on the map in mainstream Australia.

He has since become one of Australia’s most original and respected songwriters and has enjoyed a solo career since 1989. He has released ten albums, the latest of which is “Witness”.

In 1995, he received the APRA song of the year for "My Island Home" originally written for the Warumpi Band and re-recorded by Christine Anu.

He has also penned such classics as “Blackfella Whitefella”, “Good Light in Broome”, “Longgrass band” and more recently “Lights of Hay” and “Burrumbeep Hill”

For three decades now, Neil Murray’s songs have contributed substantially to the deepening of Australia’s musical and cultural heritage. He has explored the nation’s conscience and heartland, elevating themes of universal significance along the way.

His live performances always captivate and inspire, winning new converts. He will be accompanied on tour by Peter Hudson on drums and Tim Finnigan on bass.
