Neighbours wet and wild

Neighbours star, Stefan Dennis.
Windy conditions greeted Neighbours star, Ashleigh Brewer, at the Marina.

The long-running Australian soap opera, Neighbours, has commenced filming in Port Douglas with cast and crew congregating at the Meridien Marina yesterday.

But the weather gods have reared their ugly heads again as the sunny skies of the past few weeks turned to wet and windy conditions forcing the crew to grab their equipment and take cover.

Stars of the show, Stefan Dennis and Ashleigh Brewer, were on location at the Marina and Stefan said he had a busy schedule despite shooting just three "crucial" scenes.

"I was hoping to have some days off but that's been taken up in publicity (commitments)."

He said he was keen to experience the diving on the reef before departing on Friday.

Dozens of locals have signed up to be extras for the show which has been airing on our screens since 1985.
