Steve Moneghetti visited Port Douglas State School on Friday to speak to students in his role as ambassador for the Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival.

While in town for the running of the festival, Moneghetti took time out encourage students to get active and promoted sport as a great way to see the world.

The 1992 world record holder for the half marathon distance, Moneghetti fielded questions from the kids, and inspired many to enter the Festival's 'Fundy 5000' and help raise money for children's charity, KIND.
