Federal Member for Leichhardt, Warren Entsch, says he has orchestrated an event for local businesses which will see Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey and new Sheraton Mirage part owner, David Marriner, in attendance.

"I've asked Joe (Hockey) to come up to Port Douglas and I'm going to organise a cocktail function for the Port Douglas and Mossman business community," Mr Entsch said.

"I want to show him what needs to be done including the refurbishment of the (Sheraton) Mirage and of course the (Port Douglas lagoon) pool and anything else that the business community can come up with.

"I've asked David Marriner to come up and present directly to Joe, and he may well be in a position to make the necessary announcement."

The event is to be held on Thursday 14 July. More details to come.

Why is it that Warren Entsch can bring these three to Port for a "Cocktail Party" for those few priviledged to get an invite but these people cant be given access to the whole of Port Douglas and the region to speak to all. I think it would be important that if Mr Marriner is in town and going to make any announcements about the Sheraton then wouldnt the whole of Port be interested?? As with the Opposition pollies at these times?? Why is it that when discussions about the subjects that effect ALL of the region(Sheraton/Lagoon) the whole of the community are not included????

On the ABC's 'Q&A' on Monday, 27th June 2011, Joe HOCKEY - who is in the unfortunate position of having to decry a Carbon tax in which he believes (and which effectively cost him the leadership of the Coalition to the completely-unprincipled current Leader) - announced that the Coalition's "policies" which they intend to take to the next Federal Election would be "ready for release by the end of next week" - meaning the week ending 8.7.11. Hooray, now there's another subject Joe can be asked about if Warren is successful in getting Hockey and Marriner here on July 14th. I'd love an invitation?!

Just imagine the views from that walking track. It beats me why it can't be done. It would be so good for locals and tourism

How about a safe (from cars) walking track to Port Douglas Look Out (Island Point Road) and or continuation of the walking path from the Esplande to the Top Look Out ?
