Help at hand for businesses

Chairs
Port Douglas Chamber's Phoebe Kitto is keen to see businesses learn more about the assistance that is available to them.

The Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a workshop for the business community to provide information on programs and financial assistance they may be eligible for.

The Business Assistance Workshop will be held tomorrow at 5.30pm at Rydges Sabaya and will involve presenters from DEEDI, Enterprise Connect, and the Business Enterprise Centre.

The Chamber's Phoebe Kitto urged the region's businesses to find out more about what help is at hand.

"This includes assistance for businesses who have suffered financial loss as a result of the cyclone or turn down in business due to difficult economic environment, businesses wanting assistance for financial applications or tourism businesses wanting advice and financial advice to increase their business performance," she said.

Ms Kitto said if there is not a strong take up in government assistance programs the community is at risk of losing them.

"Our community needs to have a voice to the council, state and federal government regarding local business challenges and these programs are a way that this information is filtered up," she said.
