Fireworks funded at eleventh hour

Thanks to local business community the Carnivale fireworks are on again this year

Yet again, the amazing Port Douglas community has rallied together for a great cause, this time to save the Carnivale 2010 Fireworks.  Due to significant feedback from the public, a group of Port Douglas businesses led by Rhys Bawden of Salsa Bar & Grill have approached the local Chamber of Commerce to provide financial backing for the fireworks display, a highlight of the annual Macrossan Street Parade.

Along with the Chamber's valuable contribution, local businesses who have dug deep to help save the eye catching family spectacular include Salsa Bar & Grill, tourismportdouglas.com.au, 2 Fish, On the Inlet, Harrison's/Bucci, Lure Restaurant & Bar, Rattle 'n' Hum, Bistro 3, Billy's By The Sea, and Radio Port Douglas.

Festivities in Macrossan Street will commence at 6pm on Friday, 21 May. The Parade will kick off at 7pm with even more entertainment following, culminating with the much loved and now on again fireworks display at 9pm.

Editors Comments: Well done everyone who came to the rescue of our iconic Carnivale firework display. I've never been stopped in the street so many times over an issue as the apparent loss of the Firework display. But thanks this hearty bunch of businesses, everything is back on track, love your work!

The Street Parade Entertainment does not finish at 9 pm with the fireworks! There is a huge street cabaret scheduled and heaps more street performers and live music right up till 11 pm! Don't get stuck in the pub at 9, get out on the streets and enjoy the amazing entertainment on offer!
