On Monday 15th February at 3pm at Mossman Library, the Douglas Shire Historical Society will be launching their latest publication entitled . .   

With the recent Port Douglas and Mossman Community Phone Book being delivered around the area on February 1st , it raises the discussion of what . .       

       

They are usually home to the general Trivia Quiz challenge but Dave said 'We thought we'd try something different and see how it would go".  The evening was a great success, there were no restrictions to the number of players to each team, if they could sit around the table they could be on the team, was the rule.

ust the other evening at the Plantation resort Music Trivia Quiz, one of the contestants brought his new Ukele with him.  When asked how long he had been playing it, he said "Since yesterday ! I have previously been playing the guitar for years, but this is much more fun.  You just can't play it without a smile on your face".

It seems that the Ukulele has become the 'cool' instrument to play.  It may be coincidental but ever since Cairns Region Mayor, Val Schier . .       

       

A simple walk through the Rainforst Habitat in port Douglas whilst holding hands and enjoying the birds and animals before finishing your afternoon with a meal in the Habitat dining area where the local 'residents' will keep you amused.

Since I wouldn't dream of suggesting that I know anything about the subject of love I consulted several experts in the field of love and have set . .

Photo one was taken at dusk on Monday evening over the Meridien Marina whilst sitting on the Radio Station balcony having a cold one and the second one was taken the following morning at 8.30am down on Four Mile Beach walking to work enjoying the sea breeze. One of the more colourful trees in flower at the moment is the Corkwood Tree ( Melicope elleryana ). With its clusters of showy pink flowers tucked along its branches this medium to large sized tree is in flower now and can be seen throughout the region in the rainforest's as well as in a lot of gardens as this tree makes a great landscaping specimen.

Qantas has seen its share of international traffic from Australia fall below 20% for just the second time ever.    

David Dingle, who oversees Carnival Australia as chairman of Carnival Plc Management Committee, said the companyplans to double the number of passengers it carries in Australia and New Zealand to 700,000 in the next decade. Carnival had  historically added five to six ships a year across its global business, Dingle said, but that will more likely become two or three ships a year as the industry matures.

According to an article on travel today at the weekend, Carnival Corporation could build a new ship specifically for the Australian market . . . .                       

Manager Dave tells us that the categories will be six rounds including the 60, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and a mixed round  to sort the men out from the boys !  There is no limit to the number oif team members you can have, it's just a question of whther you can all fit around the table.

Yet another innovation from Newsport daily has been unveiled at the weekend. Now small readers can upload their own notices of events and messages     

The sea crashed against the top reaches of the beach close to the scrubland between the roadside and the sand.  Normal high tides are expected to peak at about  2.4mtrs but the weekends high tides were monsters at nearly 3.4mtrs.  As you can see from the photos included here, we even had some waves that would have rivalled our surfing neighbours down at Surfers Paradise (well OK, but they were quite big !).

King Tides came to visit Four Mile Beach on Saturday and Sunday mornings reaching season highs of  3.34 mtrs and 3.31 mtrs respectively         

All the restaurants in the region will be doing their best to accommodate that 'lovin' feelin' for the whole day from lunch to dinner.  Already we know that harrisons in Wharf Street and bucci in Macrossan Street are 'pashing up' the atmosphere to ensure all their loving couples savour every spine tingling moment of this very special day.

Over the course of the next 2 weeks, we will be letting our readers know where the most romantic spots in town are to take their loved ones,
