Extras needed for TV series

Producers of the new series 'Reef Doctors' have quite specific needs when it comes to the search for extras.

In 2012, well-known actor Lisa McCune will be diving the depths of the Great Barrier Reef and scaling the canopy of the Daintree Rainforest when she stars in, and co-produces, the new family series for Network Ten, Reef Doctors.

In the action series, McCune will star as Dr Sam Stewart "the Sherlock Holmes of tropical medicine" and the head doctor in the only medical clinic for the Great Barrier Reef Islands.

Ms McCune said she is excited to be stepping into the role.

“Having known Jonathan Shiff (the show's producer) for so many years, it’s great to be finally working with him on this project for Network Ten and ZDF in Germany.

"The Far North of our country is a frontier of great beauty and unknown dangers, and this is where my character Sam Stewart believes medicine will find new answers.”

The family series will be shot in Queensland at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast and will use Far North Queensland’s beaches and Daintree Rainforest as the stunning backdrops for this fresh family medical drama.

A Casting Call for extras for the series is being held this Saturday, 5 November at the Clink Theatre from 9am to 1pm.

The producers are looking for people to fill two kinds of roles, so if you meet the criteria set out below and want to appear in the series, contact budhopes1@bigpond.com to register your interest.

What the producers tell us they're looking for:

Backpacker Types - Looking for people aged between 25 and 35 both male and female. The people that will be in this group will probably be well tanned and slender in appearance as there will be lots of swimwear sarongs etc worn due to the island shooting location.

Looking for the typical backpacking characters with a slant towards Disney good looks. Can be different ethnicities but mainly Anglo based features. Would love a few good ethnic looks like African American College looks, Japanese Surfers type with sun bleached hair etc.

Locals - Looking for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders, Indonesians etc to play people coming to the clinic from surrounding islands. Male and female 18yrs and over.
