Debut CD 'On Macrossan Street'

Debut CD release by local Frank Frikker

By Roy Weavers

Although he has been part of the local music scene since 2005, local Spa owners Frank Frikker has just recorded his first EP featuring the track entitled  “On Macrossan Street”.  He wrote the song for this years Carnivale and it  tells the story of a traveller who coincidently bumps into Carnivale in Port.  he recorded the song after being encvuraged by the feedback he has received since first showcasing the song.  He introduced the song on Radio Port FM recently and it can now be viewed on youTube as well.

The EP also has two more songs about the region on it.  The CD was produced and mastered by Larry Cash with support of Gecko Music Productions. The EP is available for sale at just $10 around town or at wellness@port on the corner of Grant Street and Macrossan Street.

Frank has been on the Clink Theatre Committee acting as both vice president and president during 2006-2009.  During this time he produced several music events. In fact one of his main goals has been to have local musicians performing on a real stage for an audience that listens!

Having always been an enthusiastic singer/songwriter Frank is getting closer to fulfilling his dream.  The recording of his own music is his next step.

He is creating his debut album which will be entitled, “Tomorrow I will be OK”.  It will be a 12 track CD and is being recorded with the support of many other local musicians.

The CD production and official launch is planned for the 2nd half of 2011.

Excellent stuff. One of the great things about Port Douglas is wandering up and down Macrossan Street and find new things each time you cruise along. This mini-cosmopolitan avenue never ceased to catch my interest as I walked up and down from Garrick Street to Wharf Street and the marina.

Hats off to Frank Frikker for bringing the heart of Port to life in song. Memories are good to recall from photo's but when it's in the form of a song, it's always in your head. That's why I will never forget my journey on the Kuranda Scenic Railway and Frank Frikker's observations of Macrossan just add to the treasured memories I have of the Douglashire.

Well done!

Gazza
