Concert band comes to the Clink

Cairns Concert Bank is coming to the Clink Theatre on 27 February.

The Clink Theatre is the place to be on Sunday, 27 February for a night of music ranging from jazz to rock classics as Cairns Concert Band comes to town.

The band is part of the larger 'Cairnsbands' group which was first formed in 1995 as part of the Cairns Municipal Band and now includes the Cairns Concert Band, Tropical Brass and Cairns Youth Stage Band.

"Travel is no problem for the band although we currently have 36 regular members playing instruments from Piccolo to Timpani,," said the band's musical director, Adrian Frost.

"The band regularly performs in and around the Cairns district accompanying many singers and solo artists."

Mr Frost, who has a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Music Studies (Performance and Conducting), was the founding director of the Orana Community College (part of Sydney Conservatorium) in western NSW, and has performed with many ensembles throughout the world and won numerous competitions as a performer and conductor.

Other highly credentialed musicians who will be performing include piper Robin Smith, singer Pauline Bradshaw, and violinist Amanda Terry.

Tickets are $25 for non-members and $22 for members and the show starts at 6.30pm.

For more information call the Clink Theatre on 0417 750 231.
