Load spill causes Mt Molloy to Mossman Rd closure

The Cairns Police have advised that the Rex Range section of the Mt Molloy-Mossman Road was closed this morning after a semi trailer carrying a long concrete beam was unable to negotiate a tight corner.  The trailer section of the rig slid off the road causing the load to detach and fall onto the roadway, blocking the highway in both directions.  The road is expected to remain closed to ALL traffic until this (Tuesday) afternoon whilst crews recovered the load and damaged trailer.

At 11.40am Cairns Police issued a media release to advise of a serious traffic crash on the Kuranda range section of the Kennedy Highway. As a result of this crash the Kuranda range is closed to all traffic in both directions until further notice.
