Another grand effort

The emergency service crews raised over $1,000 on Sunday.

The Douglas Combined Emergency Services crews got down and dirty on Sunday, raising over $1,000 for the Queensland flood appeal with a drive-through car wash.

A long line of cars could be seen entering the Port Douglas Fire Station, with owners keen to take advantage of the opportunity to get their pride and joy sparkling.

"It was a fantastic effort from the volunteers that turned up like Queensland Fire & Rescue Service, Queensland Police Service, Ambulance, Rural, SES, Coastguard, it was fantastic," said QFRS Auxiliary Captain and organiser Lou Leone.

"We had people putting in $15, $20, $25. We even had people putting in without coming through the car wash. Thank you to everybody for getting involved and to those donated."
